Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is currently seeking a Crane Operator to join our team in San Antonio, TX and/or Austin! The Crane Operator is responsible for operating a Hydraulic Crane to securely lift, move, position, reposition and safely lay down loads while following all outline OSHA safety precautions and proper procedures of the specific crane operator manual.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Perform crane maintenance and conduct daily inspections of the crane.
  • Ability to work within standards of accuracy and limits and operate crane with visual signs and hear audible sounds and/or directions.
  • Knowledge of rigging and crane signaling.
  • Lift, position and place material, equipment, or other large objects at construction sites in a smooth, safe manner.
  • Have general knowledge of construction rigging – use of slings, cable chokers, spreader bars, multi-part load blocks, etc.
  • Authorized and obligated to stop work on any task or series of tasks whenever an unsafe condition or situation is anticipated
  • Maintain a working knowledge of load charts, hand signals and federal and state DOT laws.
  • Reports any and all violations of applicable laws, regulations and company policies or procedures promptly.
  • Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision (such as certification training, safety training, procedure review, etc.)
  • Operator must also inspect and compare load weights with lifting capacity and load charts to ensure against overload as well as recommend appropriate actions to maintain the crane in good working order, meet all OSHA requirements in connection with crane operation. This includes but not limited to daily inspection log, focus on crane operation, and be able to safely hoist, move and place materials and objects using appropriate attachments. May assist in cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining mechanisms, such as pulleys, etc.
  • Able to assemble or disassemble the lattice boom crane on construction projects with strict adherence to manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Must wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, reflective vest and/or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being conducted.
  • Ability to ensure compliance in all construction, safety, health and environmental regulations, policies, and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
  • Effectively communicate and understand both verbal and written instructions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • At least 5 (five) years of certified crane operation experience.
  • Must have earned HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Hydraulic Crane Operator experience required (TLL)
  • Lattice license experience a required (LAT)
  • Must be willing to travel to and from various project sites as needed.

Preferred Requirements:

  • NCCCO Certified Crane Operator with Current DOT physical preferred.
  • OSHA 10 Hour.
  • Class “A” or “B” license preferred, but not required.
