Bartlett Cocke General Contractors' response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

UPDATES:

ALL OFFICES AND ACTIVE JOBSITES ARE CURRENTLY OPEN AND RUNNING  AT THIS TIME

BCGC COVID-19 Documents

Multiple municipalities and counties in Texas have issued orders requiring residents to stay at home and operate under “Stay Home / Work Safe Measures”.   This order declared the construction industry as being one of the critical infrastructure sectors which are exempt from the shelter in place orders and allow construction companies to continue to operate and perform their work.   Bartlett Cocke General Contractors has  proactively issued guidelines for office and site supervisors to develop and implement a plan to begin rotating essential staff between working remotely from home and the office or jobsite.   The goal of rotating employees is ultimately to reduce each employee’s risk to exposure while also helping to ensure continuity of company operations.

Everyone has been assigned either to a Red Team or a Blue Team and you are only to come into the office or onto your construction site on your assigned team days. If you have questions as to which team you are on, please check with your supervisor and please remember to check the calendar as to which days you are allowed to come into work. Thank you and be safe!

As the public emergency related to the COVID-19 pandemic evolves rapidly, Bartlett Cocke General Contractors will continue to implement measures to ensure our business continuity and support the health of our employees and those we work with at our project and office locations. In preparation for the inevitable impact on our company’s operations in each of our regions, the following actions are being taken to help us prepare and actively manage this unprecedented situation:

Internal Protocols

We’re taking meaningful steps behind the scenes, as well.

We will continue to be vigilant in updating our protocols daily as new information is released.

We regularly give these reminders to all of our team members during daily safety meetings:• Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly (20 seconds, minimum)• Adopt an alternative to the handshake• Avoid contact with sick people• Avoid touching your own eyes/nose/mouth• Stay home if you or someone in your home is feeling sick

CORPORATE TRAVEL SAFETY MEASURES

While some crucial domestic travel may be required between our regional offices, we are prohibiting all other non-essential travel and will be significantly increasing our use of company communication technologies that we already have in place. We encourage you to follow the CDC's Recommendations regarding travel and check the CDC's Travelers Health Notices for the latest guidance.

BCGC COVID-19 RESPONSE TEAM

To ensure the safety and health of all BCGC team members, we’ve established a COVID-19 Response Team to meet daily to help evaluate the current situation and rapidly address issues related to business continuity and prevention and to provide consistent and constant communication to all employees.

COVID-19 SIGNAGE POSTED AT EVERY JOBSITE

To increase situational awareness, we have provided COVID-19 information posters for display at all job sites in English and Spanish.

JOB SITE SAFETY STAND DOWN MEETINGS

Our Safety Directors have directed job site safety stand downs to review CDC recommended prevention measures. All project teams will discontinue all job-wide meetings, conduct critical on-site meetings in groups of 9 people of less and leverage telephone and video conferencing when and where possible.  Although traditional job-wide meetings have been discontinued until further notice, each individual subcontractor foreman shall conduct safety meetings with only their employees.  Each project team will share the safety meeting points with each subcontractor foreman so they can cover current topics and return sign-in sheets.

HAND WASH STATIONS AT EVERY JOBSITE

In accordance with the CDC and OSHA guidelines, hand washstands and/or stations will be available at every Bartlett Cocke jobsite.

Jobsite protocols

All active Bartlett Cocke projects across the state of Texas are following procedures to help ensure the health of our team and project spaces.

SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19

PREVENTING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19

We all need to take the COVID-19 threat seriously and take all reasonable measures to prepare for and mitigate the spread of this disease to our team members, our clients and our business. We will continue to provide additional updates as governmental guidelines change or our situation warrants. Thank you for your continued attention and support and we wish good health and safety for you and your families.

HAND HYGIENE is washing your hands for at least 20 seconds, sing the birthday song twice.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Do not host large group meetings. CDC recommends that we avoid gatherings of 10+ people; and when meeting, that we keep a 6 foot distance between people. Perform meetings online or via conference call whenever possible.

Discourage hand-shaking and other contact greetings.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Employees who have symptoms of acute respiratory illness are recommended to stay home and not come to work until they are free of fever (100.4° F [37.8° C] or greater using an oral thermometer), signs of a fever, and any other symptoms for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing or other symptom-altering medicines (e.g. cough suppressants). Employees should notify their supervisor and stay home if they are sick.

Employees should review and understand sick leave policies.

Employees who are sick with a respiratory related illness will not be required to provide a healthcare provider’s note to validate their illness or to return to work.  We understand healthcare provider offices and medical facilities may be extremely busy and not able to provide such documentation in a timely way.

We will maintain flexibility with our current policies to permit employees to stay home to care for themselves and/or sick family members.
