Once again BCGC is proud to partner with and support our military.

Building hot on the heels of the National Mounted Warrior Museum in Ft. Hood and a little further down our timeline with Randolph Air Force Base AAFES Shopping Center and Camp Bullis Armed Forces Reserve Center we broke ground on the new Texas General Land Office and Texas Veterans Land Board “Tuskegee Airmen Texas State Veterans Home”. The event was well attended, and Commissioner George P. Bush addressed the assembled team; honoring the veterans that have served and in turn will be served in the completed Veterans Home.

This will be the tenth veterans home built in the State of Texas.

The state of Texas has a long history of supporting its veterans going back to 1946 when the Veterans Land Board began providing benefits to Texas veterans of all branches of military service.

The project is a new 108,000 square foot veterans’ home with a construction value of $29 million. The design will include various “neighborhoods” including three skilled nursing neighborhoods and one memory support neighborhood that will be home to approximately 30 veterans residing in each.  As well as the 4 neighborhood buildings, the project will include a community center/office building.

The new Veterans Home will be in Tarrant Count just a bugle’s call from the Veterans Administration Hospital on IH-20.  The facility is planning to open in the Spring of 2023.
