BCGC is proud to accept these awards alongside design partner, Studio8 Architects

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors is the recipient of two Outstanding Construction Awards by the Associated General Contractors Austin Chapter. The two projects were the Bartlett Cocke Austin Office and the Austin Community College Rio Grande Campus Renovation. Both projects were in partnership with Austin-based architecture firm Studio8.

BCGC was awarded two Outstanding Construction Awards by the AGC Austin Chapter

The Austin Chapter of the Associated General Contractors is dedicated to the principles of Skill, Integrity and Responsibility in the construction industry.  The Chapter provides services (safety, advocacy, networking, education, building information, and workers comp) to commercial construction firms working in the Austin area and throughout Central Texas. Associated General Contractors judge projects on the difficulty in construction resulting from design, location, materials, etc.; unusual construction techniques involved; final appearance and quality of the finished product; and timeliness of completion.

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors Austin Office:

The Bartlett Cocke Austin office is set back from the frontage road along East Ben White. The new office includes dynamic concrete and glass forms that shift back and forth around a central transparent reception wing. The main entry sequence moves through an activated courtyard along the northwest facade. The glass lobby bisects the east and west wings. This space links the front and rear outdoor spaces and establishes an easy rhythm of solid and void. The west wing houses permanent offices and shared spaces, including the all-hands conference room, bid review, huddle rooms, and a breakroom that can open to an outdoor landing with integrated bench seating via folded floor-to-ceiling glass nano-walls.

The east wing of the office is two-story and = accommodates staff who frequently come and go, including project managers and infill staff who split their time between job sites and the office. A roof deck patio above the entry is accessed by a spiral staircase on the back patio, where a quiet courtyard includes planters and a prominent water feature used for irrigation. Designed primarily for typical office use, the space is also flexible for hosting client and construction industry events. (Description provided by Studio8 architects)

Austin Community College, Rio Grande:

The Austin Community College Rio Grande renovation is nestled in the heart of Austin’s urban core. ACC Rio Grande represents an educational legacy, having served the Austin community for nearly a century. This historical renovation features a multi-level, 169-seat learning lab and library, the enclosure of two courtyards, transforming them into a large commons area filled with natural light, six state-of-the-art science labs, classrooms, and dedicated spaces for ACC’s Deaf and hard-hearing community. This transformation marks a major investment towards making the campus a more rewarding experience for the students, faculty, and community. (Description provided by Studio8 architects)
